The Lichte's New Farmhouse......... Week 23

Week 23 was a busy one. With another Holiday right in the middle of the week it sort of got us out of whack - I am ready for a little bit of normalcy in January. My farmer and I have  wedding to attend in Austin, Texas at the end of the month, so I am spending the rest of the month slowly boxing up our house.

Take a look at our Week 23 picture. Our roof is completely on. (We have snow....)

We have a large (unfinished) attic space above our garage that we are going to put our upstairs HVAC in as opposed to the basement. In doing this we needed to create access to that attic so we have some stairs.

We met with an electrician one morning this past week as well. To say that it was overwhelming was an understatement, but just as I have felt with every single sub contractor, he knew what he was doing and I trusted him and his ideas.

We also have lots of new plumbing throughout the house.

Our fireplace should be in sometime this next week as well.

No big deal, just some snow in my bedroom....

Our front door should also be in sometime soon,  but in the meantime we have boarded up the hole to try to keep some wind out.

I've been buying a lot of stuff for the house this past week (to my farmer that's reading this, that's why our next credit card bill will be so high - I love you)

Master bathtub faucet

Hallway Bath faucet

Built in under counter ice maker for our kitchen island

And this light fixture for above our kitchen table. I have been wanting to order it for a while now but was waiting for it to go on sale. Turns out it never goes on sale.... I am excited for it to come in - I think I will other love it or hate it as soon as it comes in... I'll keep you posted (I am sure you are dying with anticipations. :)

And lastly this toilet (which i ordered for all three bathrooms)... I love the "trim" around the bottom of the base. Leave it to me to notice any kind of trim work on a toilet.

That's all for us this week.... I hope everyone is having a great start to 2015. My farmer and I had a great 2014 but something tells me 2015 is going to be even better.

  1. Looks like you've got a lot of things going on there, which are set to materialize soon. I'm really excited on how things will turn out, once everything is done, especially the fireplace. I would really like to see how that would be like and how it will relate with respect to the objects and the layouts of the whole house. Thanks for sharing that update! All the best!

  2. Roof work is such a drag so I totally feel you on this one. Last year, my family decided to get the roof repaired on our home. While it didn't seem like a major renovation at the time, it was. We had to stay with my aunt's family for a couple of weeks while the repairs went on. It was a mess!

  3. The house looks beautiful so far. I like the attic space; I’m sure you will be able to use that space well, especially when holding small occasions. The new plumbing is also a good thing. It's always great to know that you can take a bath or wash dishes when you move into the home.

  4. First, I have to say your farmhouse is simply stunning! You can already tell that it will be amazing when it is finished. It may seem overwhelming doing it all, but one step at a time and you will soon be there. I am very keen to see any progress you make, so I look forward to your next post.
